Welcome to the Reading Lions Center

The Reading Lions Center (RLC), a department of the Sacramento County Office of Education, is a statewide leader in K-6 reading/language arts. We are recognized for our instructional excellence, delivery of exemplary professional development, curriculum-embedded assessments, and reform of district, school, and classroom practices to ensure successful literacy results. Over the past decade we have:

  • Developed over 6,000 hours of professional development
  • Trained over 100,000 educators
  • Improved reading/language arts instruction for over two-million students

We currently provide professional development trainings to support teachers, coaches, and administrators who are implementing the following California state- adopted reading/language arts programs:
