Passport Program
The 40-hour SB 472/Reading First training and the 80-hour follow-up (Passport) activities comprise the 120-hour professional development program under California SB 472 legislation and Reading First/No Child Left Behind guidelines. Some districts offer stipends upon completion of both the training and Passport phase of the 120-hour program (check with a Site Administrator for more information).
2008-2009 Information
Submission Requirements- Download and print the 2008 80-hour Follow-up (Passport).
- Reading First teachers need to submit the passport, by May 8, 2009, to their site administrator.
- SB 472 participants (non-Reading First) may elect to submit passports either by May 8, 2009 (Option #1), or by May 7, 2010 (Option #2).
- All other participants should consult with their districts for passport requirements.
- Participant has completed a RIC provided 40-hour institute between March 29, 2008, and April 3, 2009.
- Participant has downloaded and completed the 80-hour Follow-up (Passport) and has dated and initialed entries for 80 or more hours of district Passport activities.
- Participant has included Passport event documentation, if required by the district. Consult with your site administrator or coach for district guidelines regarding documentation.
- Participant has turned in the Passport Follow-through Verification Report (Portfolio) to the site administrator or designee for certification.
- 4 or 8 quarter unit UCLA graduate level course options are available to 80-hour Follow-up (Passport) completers. (See UCLA course requirements for 4-quarter unit/8-quarter unit options associated with the passport.)
- The UCLA Extension, 4-quarter or 8-quarter unit course associated with the 80-hour Follow-up activities requires Passport submission to your site administrator for certification.

2007-2008 Information
Submission Requirements- Participant has completed a RIC provided 40-hour institute between May 14, 2007, and March 28, 2008.
- Participant has completed the 80-hour Follow-up (Passport) portolio and has dated and initialed entries for 80 or more hours of district Passport activities.
- Participant has included Passport event documentation, if required by the district. Consult with your site administrator or coach for district guidelines regarding documentation.
- Participant has turned in the Passport Follow-through Verification Report (Portfolio) to the site administrator or designee by the district's deadline.
- Teachers: check your eligibility and the status of your certification.
- Principals & other certifiers: check your eligibility list.
- Principals & other certifiers: log-in to certify Passports.
