Administrator Training Program (formerly AB 430)
Module 1: Leadership and Support of Student Instructional Programs
The Reading Lions Center offers Module 1, 40-hour professional development for administrators of schools using OCR 2002, HMR, or Language! reading/language arts programs. Our curriculum has been approved by the State Board of Education (SBE) to be used to provide training for the Administrator Training Program (Tier II) and is approved for Reading First principals and assistant principals.
(From the California Department of Education) "Module 1: Leadership Support of Student Instructional Programs. If principals serve as effective instructional leaders, they will increase their overall student achievement, as measured by norm-referenced tests, the California Standards Tests, and other assessments, and decrease the time required to effectively implement their instructional strategy." Specifically, the training program for the Administrator Training Program content areas 2, 3, and 4 will build skills and capacity necessary to:
- Establish and communicate state and district visions and goals for student focused instructional curriculum;
- Create awareness and familiarity with state standards for all instructional team members and core subjects;
- Guide the full implementation of approved instructional program texts and materials;
- Direct and support proven staff training and professional development activities for uniform instruction and material use;
- Manage data and assessment for the purpose of guiding teacher decisions regarding student interventions and school site instructional practices.
